Governance

consevatoryMersea Island Trust is a Registered Charity No: 206064 and is governed by ten volunteer Trustees who are assisted by volunteer committee members.
Trustees meet at least once in each calendar year and have delegated the operation of the Trust to a Main Committee that consists of Trustees and others. This committee meets at least twice a year.
A  Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee meets on a more regular basis, usually quarterly, whilst a Selection Sub-Committee meets on an ad-hoc basis in order to ensure that its future residents are selected on a fair and equitable basis, in accordance with the purpose of the charitable foundation. Additionally there are two House Sub-Committees that oversee the daily activities at each of the Trust’s two sites that provide sheltered accommodation. All of these sub-committees report to the Trust’s Main Committee.

Representatives of the Trust’s residents are invited to meetings of the  Main Committee.

The Trust has no full-time administrative staff and relies heavily upon the work of unpaid volunteers to act as Trustees, Committee Members and to assist in a number of other roles.
Anyone wishing to assist the Trust in a voluntary capacity should make direct contact with the Trust via email, letter or telephone.
